For veterinary colleagues

A focused assessment, with a shared clinical picture

JarrahVet’s initial focus is recurrent urinary problems in female dogs and consideration of episioplasty when perivulvar anatomy contributes. Clinical history, documented infection and appropriate investigation guide case selection.

Scope and case discussion

A recessed vulva is a finding to interpret alongside clinical disease. Assessment should consider persistent or recurrent infection, perivulvar dermatitis (inflamed skin around the vulva), incontinence (involuntary urine leakage), body condition and other urinary abnormalities before attributing the problem to external conformation.

Information that makes the review useful

A chronological clinical summary is particularly helpful, including the basis for previous UTI diagnoses, sample collection methods, culture and susceptibility results, treatments and documented responses.

Please include other illnesses, continence history, imaging findings, current medication and the owner’s goals. The initial review determines whether further investigation or another service is required.

  • Relevant consultation notes and examination findings.
  • Urinalysis, dated culture/susceptibility results and collection methods.
  • Antimicrobial exposure and clinical response over time.
  • Imaging, blood-test reports and any prior urinary procedures.
  • Owner permission for sharing records and contacting them.

Agree responsibilities before treatment

The referring practice, operating facility and JarrahVet need a clear understanding of consent, prescribing, records, postoperative reviews and urgent-care responsibility. These should be settled for the individual case.
